I can't help myself

I am not through yet with Smith and Wesson 38 Specials. Here are three more of my favorites, a Combat Masterpiece (15-4)circa 1957, a K-38 (17-4) late 70s and a 1947 38/44 Heavy Duty. The two K frames wear coke bottle grips by Kurac (John Culina). [image][image][image]

Beautiful K's, my 15-4's not that nice but shoot good

I bought this one NIB in 2004. Some guy died who bought was a collector and didn't shoot them. I also got a NIB 3" Chief's Special at the same time.

Beautiful revolvers, I am a big fan...

of the Colt and S&W revolvers. The Combat Masterpieces are some of my favorites though. Made the mistake of selling a 2" model 15 years ago and have been kicking myself ever since.

Enough.....

Charles, those are beauties! ESPECIALLY that Heavy Duty.

I too am a big fan of .38 Special revolvers. Some years ago I bought a Model 15 with practically no finish left - police tradein that had been stripped and cold blued, and that had faded to mottled gray. I reblued the barrel and cylinder with Van's and replaced the rubber Hogues with a used set of factory PCs. The frame looks somewhat like faded case color now and the gun doesn't look bad at all. One of the most useful guns I own, will do pretty much anything a fellow might a pistol for, and I don't have to worry about beating it up.

OTOH, along about the same time I bought a 1949 skinny barrel K-38 in the same condition - no finish left at all. It shot so well I couldn't leave it ugly, so I sent it back to S&W for a refinish. Still shoots great, but now it's so purty I rarely carry it.

Thanks for the pics!

There's a support group for this sort of thing Charles.

It meets in Clarksville Arkansas most every year around the end of March.
