Though I live in North Carolina now, I was raised in Maryland. Growing up in the northwest corner of Frederick County was pleasant enough, but I acquired a healthy and well-deserved dislike for the ways and attitudes of people from "down in the city." Though Washington and Baltimore were each only 90 minutes away, I can count my visits to both cities on my ten fingers with several fingers left over.

Anne Arundel County, immediately south of the city of Baltimore and two counties east of Washington, DC, is the county in which the Maryland capital city Annapolis is located. It has been a center of socialist, city-oriented, anti-gun and anti-individual thinking for time out of mind. Think of it in the same way you would think of, say, Trenton NJ.

It does have its good points. The county dates back to early colonial days, and was actually the site of a battle between Protestant and Catholic forces during the English Civil War. It's a great place to visit if you like old buildings, interesting history, good seafood, and the US Naval Academy. Among the downsides is one of the highest costs of living (and most expensive real estate) outside of Manhattan.

I would not move to Anne Arundel County unless I knew that I was specifically called by God to do so.
