I measured the barrel of the Shootists .45 Colt Marlin

Using a plastic mallet I started a .457" round ball into the bore at the muzzle. I had placed a rag in the open breech to catch anything that might fall through the bore. I used a 12 ga. cleaning rod to push the ball through the length of the barrel. The barrel was exceptionally slick and smooth all the way through with no tight spots.

It is a 5 groove barrel and near as I can tell, this measures .4518".

So far I have run bullets #454190.... #454424 .... #457191 ... SSK 270-451 ...and a 225 gr. 45 ACP powder coated bullet through it. None have leaded the bore in any way.
