I was 9 or 10 .. my brother 5 or 6. Our bedroom was in the basement and we had a big ole dial radio on the dresser. We would listen to Gunsmoke, Amos n Andy, the Lone Ranger, Fibber McGee and Mollie .. and late at night there would be this religious broadcaster coming in from Del Rio, Texas. He was always selling things to make God give you money .. if you sent him his first. He charged 10 cents. I remember his voice, "SEND 1 DIME .. ONE TENTH OF A DOLLAR TO DEL RIO, TEXAS .." It was about the only AM station we could get after 10 or 11 PM ... long after we were supposed to be asleep.
