I have kind of standardized on Federal Auto Match for most of my shooting.

It’s generally available at Walmart fairly cheap and places like SGAmmo have it for 6 cents delivered.

I bought over 3000 rounds for 6 cents each. I was in Academy and they had some on sale for 5 cents a round and I bought a bunch of those. I see online some for 4 1/2 cents a round but I don't order from a business I don't know. Too many scams online and by the time you pay shipping and HazMat the price is even or higher with local stores.

Very interesting. I’m not to that level of fooling around, but I can see it being fun to play with and have the knowledge and tools of it ever come necessary one day. I’m probably better off just stocking up even more on bulk packs of .22’s!

Let me start by saying , I have been on a mission to load .22 mag ammo. I have have a thousand Win .22 mag new primed cases and a thousand 40 gr jhp bullets . C&H made me a shell holder, All I am lacking is a seating die. I have been thinking about grinding a 22 hornet seating die as no body makes dies for the 22lr& 22mag. I want to load these 22mags all the same and to the same percsion as winchester dose. I can`t see me trying to seat a bullet in the case by hand then taking a pair of pliers or side cutters and put some sort of crimp on them. I guess I could pay someone hundreds of bucks to make a seating die but that would take the fun out of it, and I can buy a bunch of factory.22mag for what the cost of a die. I have A S&W 48 , 5 single six`s and looking to buy a nice rifle. I wished I never retired its so much work always busy. Thanks for letting me vent. GodBless you all.

I just saw where you were asking me about the .22 reloading thing.

- I was gifted a couple hundred primed .22 Long Rifle cartridges, so I have not done the total reloading of .22's ... yet.

This link is to the website where you can order a kit to reload .22 Long Rifle or .22 Magnum. They come with the crimping tool and bullet mold. The Long Rifle kit has the heel bullet and the Magnum kit has the regular bullet. Loading die and shell holder included. PLUS .. all the stuff you need to re-prime the rimfire cartridges. It's not explosive until all the ingredients are mixed. Once it is mixed .. DO NOT DROP IT! I would make up really small batches myself. In a bowl that will not produce static electricity.

The kits come with loading data with various powders.

I do not know where you can get primed .22 cartridges. The guy who gave them to me did not say where he got them or how. They are Russian manufacture and they are steel. I have loaded them to 1400 fps from the 6" single six with a 40 gr. bullet. That is magnum velocities. The load would probably blow the regular cases.

EDIT: the priming compound will also work to reload primers should that ever become needful
