Cast bullets in a microgroove Marlin .30-30. (reply)

Lyman M-die is your friend. The .311 diameter will probably work well in the sub-1800 fps arena but it's a bit of a roll of the dice. What I have read, but not pursued, is that Micro-Groove rifling likes a bore sized (not groove) nose for best accuracy. Regardless, the .30WCF is very polite at cast bullet velocities. Enjoy!

Cast bullets in a microgroove Marlin .30-30.

I have no experience in shooting cast bullets in rifle calibers and would like a bit of advice from those who do.

I have a bunch of .30-30 brass and a box of 1000 Hunter's Supply cast bullets for the .30-30,

.311 diameter and 165 grains. https://www.hunters-supply.com/311-cal-165-p-2674.html

Just looking for something that will be worthwhile to shoot within 100 yard and fairly accurate. Velocity is not important as long as the load shoot straight and clean.

Will not be used on game other than a raccoon.

Tips like powder, loading technique, lubes etc are welcome.

Thanks,

B
