When I first started using the TC Hawken percussion .50, I had thought the barrel was 28 3/4" long; but after firing several Maxi-balls through it, I took another look at the barrel... it didn't look right to me somehow. So I got out my tape measure and, sure enough, it was only 27 1/2" long.

Had I been dreaming it was longer? Did I make it up? What was going on?

Then I realized that the Maxi-balls I'd run through it were lubed with Crisco, which was the entire problem.

Crisco is shortening.
