I generally prefer a roll crimp for any revolver caliber not requiring heads spacing on the case mouth.

Getting both dies is an eminently reasonable solution.

For .44 Special and .44 Magnum moderate loads I use the roll crimp. For heavy loads with heavy bullets I use the collett crimp.

Hi all.

I'm 'bout to obtain a set of loading dies for .44 Remington Mag (and presumably they'll also work for .44 Special and .44 Russian).

I'll be loading both jacketed and cast bullets at various times. Do I want a standard roll crimp die, or is it better to get the Lee collet crimp die? Or does it even matter?

These will mostly be shot out of a Vaquero.
