More reasons to shoot 'em! (nt) (reply)

I use them as jackets for the 444 bullets I swage. When I can find them to pick up they are much cheaper than buying jackets. I do have to trim them some for the correct bullet weight I
am making.

Didn't you do something similar years ago using a 45 acp inside of a bigger case and shot thru a piece of plywood with it? I remember seeing a picture of a case embedded in plywood.

but at my age it's a forgivable offense.

Playing with my .44 Special I noticed that the .40 S&W cartridge is the correct diameter to be used as a projectile ... so why not? I learned many years ago that if you are shooting an empty cartridge as a projectile, you have to load them base first or the primer will blow out and leave the cartridge stuck someplace in the bore ... usually about 1/4 of the way through.

I fired the first two loads into some old towels that I had in the shop. I wanted to see what the 'bullets' looked like.

On the Range at 15 yards they did OK. These would be fun to shoot rabbits with. They did hit quite low, which was expected since the gun is regulated for the Keith 250 gr. SWC.

A person could learn to hold "off" and do OK.
