The boys' club

The other morning just after breakfast I was drinking my morning cup of coffee when my wife called me from the den and said, "Come here and look at this." I went and looked out the deck window, and I swear I never saw such a thicket of horns in all my life. They ranged from a little yearling spike all the way to the "boss of the woods" who looked like he had robbed a furniture store and carried a rocking chair off on his head. I counted ten bucks, and I think there were a couple more that had gone up into the woods already. The rest of them wandered around in the back yard eating acorns and hassling each other like a bunch of teenage boys, then finally made their way up into the woods and out of sight.

Quite an experience. I have seen big bunches of does together, but never that many bucks at one time. Never saw a single one during the hunting season.
