Laser Rangfinder Damage and Repair (reply)

I have a Leica CFR 1000 mine rides in its case with the lens cap on until I need it. It sits on the front seat within easy reach. Treated like the instrument that it is.
Don't even let it bounce atound my neck unless for a short walk. In our summer heat I cover the case with something. 105 plus 10 % or less humidity. Ammo in boxes under the seat away from direct sunlight can reach 120 plus. I have to change both rifle and pistol to match the seasons. I'd check with Bushnell.

I purchased a Bushnell Lazer Rangerfinder sometime back from a board member raising money for another board member. I carried the thing hanging from the gun rack and sitting on the flip up back sets. (Sun Damage?)

Anyway when I look thru the lens there is a big black spot in the center of lens. But you can see the other information around the edges of the spot trying to work.
Did the button get pressed and burn the lens? Or does excessive heat do that.

Just wondering if you guys have run into this and can they be fixed or trashed.

Thanks Much.
