You should be able to register as jgt (or whatever username you prefer) but you'll need an eight or more character password. You should be able to simply type your six digit password twice, something like 123456123456 or abcdefabcdef or 123abc123abc should work fine. It just has to be eight or more numbers/characters. 12341234 or abcdabcd or 12ab12ab or any combination of numbers/letters that is easy for you to remember. It just has to have at least eight of them (or more) all together. That is something I've not been able to find a switch to change. It really should only be the user's concern how strong of a password he wants to use. i don't believe in forcing a minimum length password on anyone - but the software designers don't see life like I do.

I guess I just don't know where to accomplish this. I find where to log in but not where to register. I tried to log in using new six letter password and it came up with error message. I then tried six letters in username and six letter password with the same results. So I conclude I am using the wrong venue (log in) but cannot find a "register" link.

jgt does not appear on the registered users list. It is a surprise to me that you can edit your posts, but if it works fine for you I'm glad! The only (small) possibility is that some later visitor come along and register your username - then you're out of luck. BUT you've been on the forum for years and no one else has ever come along to use jgt and the odds are in favor of it never happening. :)

Registering for the website does not give you an account on the forum.
Registering for the forum does not give you an account on the website.

Registering on the website will give you certain privileges. For example, once you are registered and you let the webservant know about it, we can give you author privileges. Then you can post recipes, articles, etc for the community. BUT you'll still need an account here on the forum in order to be able to edit your own posts.

Registering here on the forum is pretty straightforward. BUT you'll need to complete the process within 24 hours. Register your username/password combination. I believe you'll need at least six numbers/letters in your password. If you have a short password then you can repeat it twice. Something like abcdabcd would work whereas abcd probably will not. As soon as you register, check your email. If the message is not in your inbox then check your spam filter. We have had once case of a messed up address which obviously will result in you not receiving your email. Anyway, click on the link in the email and your account will be "good to go". You have 24 hours to complete the register/activate process. If, for some reason, you don't get it done in the first 24 hourse, you'll need to go through the procedure again. No, I've not found a switch to throw to give you more time. But 24 hours should be sufficient once you know you've got a time limit.
