Why not try one of the adaptors to shoot 22's in a 222 barrel. They only cost about $16 bucks.

I may have a rear sight. I have the same barrel you are looking for but don't want to part with it. I will look in my parts box for a sight. More barrels may come up if you search Gunbroker. Put in contender octagon and you will find them.

Thanks very much. I sent the guy a note inquiring about the forearm attachment, as the photo isn't quite clear enough to tell.

Of course, now I'd need to find a rear sight, but isn't looking half the fun?

I know this is a bit OT, but Contenders are handguns (at least unless you add a rifle stock and barrel).

I'm looking for a 10-inch octagon barrel in .22 Long Rifle with the original iron sights. If possible, I'd like the earliest version set up for the pull-off forearm so I can swap the forearm from my .22 Hornet barrel to the .22 Long Rifle barrel.

As you will probably have guessed, I walked into one of our local gun shops, saw the very gently used Contender with the .22 Hornet barrel and a 4x Leupold scope on it, fitted with the finger grooved grip and un-checkered forearm, and succumbed to temptation. (I succumb a lot.) Now I'd like a .22 barrel so I can shoot it less expensively and, if possible, match the existing barrel profile so the existing forearm can do double duty.

So if one of you has such a critter hiding back in a corner somewhere that you'd consider letting go, please drop me a line.
